Open Men three-peat at State Championships

The Dandenong Open Men’s team have taken out a third consecutive State Championships played at Casey on the weekend with a 3-1 win against GEMSA, who had held the team to a draw in the earlier round games.

The team started slowly with 6-6 come from behind result against GEMSA and hard fought wins against Frankston (6-1) and Werribee (3-1). However, they hit their straps on Sunday morning scoring wins against Geelong/NDSA (13-1) and Casey (10-0).

In the final, a Home-run to Sam Seach set the tone early and while Laurie Peters set about shutting down the GEMSA hitters, James Brownlow, Jon Hudson & Steven Dawson all registered crucial RBI hits to take the lead further.

Unfortunately the Women’s team didn’t have the same results as in the past, winning only one game against Frankston/Knox on Saturday and falling twice to Waverley & Casey to finish the weekend in 3rd position.
