2019 OPEN STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS (14/03/2019)

The DSA Open Men’s team have claimed back-to-back state titles, winning the Grand Final 7-3 against Albury-Wodonga.

After a slow start; falling to the Albury-Wodonga outfit in the weekend opener, the team never looked back scoring 40 runs in the next 4 games including a thrilling 1-0 victory over Keilor Park on Sunday morning that kept their title hopes alive.

In the Grand Final; home-runs to James Brownlow, Jon Hudson & Paul Valenti helped the team secure the runs needed while Laurie Peters and Steve Garoni combined to keep the dangerous Albury-Wodonga hitters quiet.

The DSA Open Women’s team fell one game short, coming Runners-Up to Waverley 5-2.

First game of the weekend was a grand final repeat of the previous year with DSA losing 1-0 against Waverley.

The team went on to win the rest of the round games, defeating teams from Werribee, Casey, Geelong & Knox to finish on top of the ladder.

Once again, the grand final was between DSA and Waverley. It was a hard-fought game with some great hitting from both teams. Our battery worked hard the whole game, the infield was tight and the outfielders took some great catches.

Congratulations to all the Players and Officials involved.
